FROM OXYGEN TO FOOD SUPPLY BY POLICE PERSONNEL DURING LOCKDOWN



The weeklong lockdown has thrown many challenges before Delhi Police. Emergencies of hitherto unthought of nature have emerged. Delhi Police is executing their responsibilities in the best possible manner, often attending to crisis that go beyond police's charter of duties. From arranging oxygen supplies to providing food and ration to needy, there are several distress calls policemen and women are attending to. Some of of the out of the way works done by police are below.

1. Today on 21.04.2021 at 8.57 AM a distress call through PCR made by Amarleela Hospital B-1 Janakpuri was received in PS Janakpuri, West District that oxygen has nearly finished in hospital. Local police swung into the action and found that life of 32 Covid patients is in danger and contacted a number of Oxygen cylinder suppliers and succeeded in finding the availability at Shankar Gases, Near Kalra Hospital, Kirti Nagar. ERV was rushed to the storage point and brought cylinders for hospital. Further assisted in arranging more oxygen cylinders from Seva Bharti, Bhai Veer Singh Marg, Gole Market and Saini Gas, Mayapuri. Till now 11 cylinders have been arranged. Local police is in constant touch with Hospital authority and oxygen suppliers to meet any emergency.

2. Today morning a distress message was received from DM North West regarding Oxygen Tankers meant for Jaipur Golden Hospital stuck in Haryana near Singhu Border. 
Immediately, Team of P.S Alipur, Outer North District swung into action. Coordination was established with Kundli Police, Haryana and a Green Corridor was established for quick movement of Oxygen Tanker. Within no time, under police escort provided by PS Alipur, the said oxygen tanker was sent to Jaipur Golden Hospital and it was ensured that the oxygen truck safely reached the concerned hospital.

3. Senior officials of ESI Hospital Jhilmil contacted SHO Vivek Vihar, Shahdara and stated that ESI Hospital, Vivek Vihar was in dire need of oxygen cylinders as oxygen was short on 52 Covid beds which needed oxygen on emergency basis. Oxygen was supposed to reach the hospital at 10 PM on Dt. 20/04/21 but could not reach till the next morning at 4 AM. It was learnt that the driver of the vehicle missed the route and couldn't reach the Hospital. As oxygen was left only for 1-2 hours more. SHO Vivek Vihar took it as a priority and through sincere efforts and cooperation was able to provide oxygen at ESI hospital in an hour at around 5 AM on Dt 21/04/21. 

Senior Official of ESI Hospital, Jhilmil thanked Delhi Police for their immediate response, timely help and smooth coordination to save the lives of 52 covid patients from danger.

4.  On 20.04.2021, SI Prakash/PP Jangpura was informed by SHO/NFC and SHO/SLC that there was a pressing need of oxygen cylinders at Holi Family Hospital and Jeevan Hospital for the Covid patients. Both the hospitals had limited supply of oxygen at that time. Without wasting a minute, the staff members of PP Jangpura arranged 10 oxygen cylinders for Holi Family Hospital and 05 oxygen cylinders for Jeevan Hospital respectively. The relatives of   Covid patients who were in urgent need of oxygen for the survival of those patients whole heartedly thanked Delhi Police by saying “Delhi Police: Dil Ki Police” for this humanitarian act of police staff.

5.  The Medical Superintendent of the Santom Hospital had told to SHO PS Prashant Vihar, Rohini District  that the hospital had a critically low level of oxygen supply available with them. He further stated that lives of 130 patients is at risk due to shortage of the oxygen.

After receiving the information  as per direction of the DCP/RD Sh. Parnab Tayal contacted various vendors regarding oxygen cylinders and thereafter in last, oxygen cylinders were got arranged from Rithala within an hour by PS Budh Vihar and provided to Santom Hospital. A green corridor was also provided by the staff of PS Prashant Vihar to the Ambulance carrying the oxygen cylinders . The painstaking efforts of teams of Prashant Vihar and Budh Vihar  under the guidance of DCP/RD leads to saving the life of  critically ill covid-19 patient.

6. On 20.04.21 at around 8 PM, information was received from Minu Singhal, r/o Narang Colony, Trinagar, Delhi at P.S Adarsh Nagar, North West District  that her husband namely Pramod Kumar (Age 51 Years) is Covid positive and his oxygen level falls to below 50 & they could get admission in any hospital due to shortage of beds. Caller requested to arrange an oxygen cylinder for her husband as they were able to get the treatment with the help of a doctor in neighbour. SHO/Adarsh Nagar, Inspr. Chander Prakash alongwith HC Harpreet and Ct. Mukesh immediately responded to their urgent need and arranged an oxygen cylinder from Sahibabad UP through their liasioning. The same was timely delivered to the family members of the patient. Further it has come to notice that condition of the patient is stable now. They set an example for others, by doing such a noble cause of humanity.

7. On 20.04.2021, a PCR call was received wherein the caller Mrs. Kamla Parashar(Contact No.9810392960) R/o H.No 19A, Pkt 9A, Kalkaji Extension, South East District informed that she was a senior citizen and her maid was unable to come for daily chores due to COVID pandemic. Due to it, she along with her husband was facing scarcity of food. Beat officer HC Naveen immediately reached at her address and provided food and other basic commodities to the old couple and ensured that maid would come to their house daily with proper Covid protocols. They thanked Delhi Police by saying “Delhi Police: Dil Ki Police” for this humanitarian act of police staff.

8. On 20.04.2021, W/PSI Nisha found a pregnant lady Pooja W/o Anil Pal R/o Raja Mohalla, Jasola village Sarita Vihar, South East district (contact No.7060575966). She left for hospital but lost her way and reached near Apollo Hospital red light. As she was at early stage of her pregnancy, she had grown weak and was about to be unconscious. W/PSI Nisha of PS Sarita Vihar was performing picket duty for the enforcement of lock down. She immediately took her to the hospital for medical checkup and provided her with some eatables, medicines and other things at that hour of need. She accompanied the lady till she became stable. Soon after her husband was called to the hospital and the lady was handed over to him. Both husband and wife were highly obliged to this help offered by police staff.

9. On dated 20.04.21 at around 3 PM, an information was received to SHO Bharat Nagar, North West District  Inspr. Mohar Singh Meena, that one senior citizen namely Usha Rani (71 Years) r/o Bharat Nagar Delhi, is found covid positive and she lives alone as her son is in Singapore. Beat Const. Harkesh was immediately deputed for admitting her in the hospital as her health condition was deteriorating. He arranged a vehicle and took her to the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital of Bharat Nagar. She was admitted there by sincere efforts of SHO Bharat Nagar and Ct. Harkesh. They did exemplary service and worked under the true spirit of “Dil Ki Police”, by admitting a covid positive senior citizen in the hospital. Further it has come to notice that her condition in the hospital is stable now.
